May 25, Col 1:22 Bible Study Notes
Welcome!
This blog is used to share some of our notes from each day’s journaling while we were in Bible study with The Holy Spirit. At the bottom of each blog page, you’ll see which Bible we used and additional resources that may have informed our thinking and learning. We are curious and humble #Biblenerds. Each day we GET TO use the Word of God to learn more about His never-changing character, how much Jesus loves us and how The Holy Spirit guides us through a heart transformation one verse at a time. The Bible reads us just as much as we read It.
We hope these perfectly imperfect notes help you as you join us weekday mornings 8:00 - 9:00 EST via Facebook & Youtube. And, of course, we welcome you whenever and wherever you get a chance to learn along with us!
In His Love,
Joy Lee & Tara Ouellette
Joy’s Notes:
Col 1:22
“Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body.
As a result, He has brought you INTO his own presence, A N D you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.”
(The sweetest part in this verse is ...”God has brought me into His presence.”)
👇
It’s an ON-PURPOSE PURSUIT.
He not only invites, but then “brings me into”
“Bringing someone into” requires = careful guidance, holding hand, a gentle leading.

Story of being in Cali: reading I was:
👉HOLY
👉BLAMELESS
👉Without single fault....
in His sight
—-> even when I don’t “feel” holy & blameless
“Never make a permanent decision on a temporary emotion .”
• We permanently believe a WARPED-IDENTITY based on a temporary emotion!
1 John 3:20
“Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings...”
—————-
• WHY did God need to sacrifice Jesus?
PASS- OVER
(The final plague used to let Gods people go into freedom )
👇
• “select male lamb without defect “ (ex 12:5)
• Paint lamb’s blood on door posts w/ hyssop branch so ANGEL OF DEATH (first born son) would PASSOVER that house!
(HYSSOP - symbolically
to cleanse the soul)
Passover meal had 3 elements:
1. Bread
2. Wine
3. Lamb
-the last supper (the Passover meal) didn’t have the lamb because Jesus was the Lamb!
👉👉 John the Baptist called Jesus the “Lamb of God” (John 1:29)
Jesus was crucified the day before Passover— 👉He was the perfect lamb that had the hyssop branch brought up to his face, smearing the blood right before He said “it is finished.”
♥️♥️Because of Jesus, death no longer has a sting , and DEATH can PASSOVER us to give us eternal life!
• Jesus crucifixion was a direct resemblance of the original Passover!
blood is painted on by HYSSOP BRANCH on the DOOR POSTS
-Representing: door way
DOORWAY (John 10:9)
👇
“I am the door. If anyone enters in by Me, he will be saved, and will GO- IN and will GO-OUT and will find pasture (peace) .” ~ Jesus
👇
👉God invites us to “GO INTO” His very presence to worship Him.
the CURTAIN ripped head to toe to give us INTIMACY- to GO INTO
(Matt 27:51)
Hebrews 10:19-22 “
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly GO INTO heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.
By his death,Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain INTO the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right INTO the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.”🙌🙌🙌
—————-
4 P’s we receive When HE BRINGS ME INTO& thru His doorway:
1. Position (I’m His daughter, He loves me, He delights in me.)
2. Purpose (“to allow God to use me in anyway thats most purposeful in order to expand His kingdom & extend the knowledge of His love.”)
3. Purity (Holy & blameless in His sight; w/out a single fault —BECAUSE of His blood! )
4. Passion (passion for Jesus ignited!)
Tara’s Notes:
May 25, Colossians 1:22 Journal
"Yet now he has reconciled you to himself
through the death of Christ in his physical body.
As a result, he has brought you into his own presence,
and you are holy and blameless
as you stand before him
without a single fault."
Bible reference commentary:
https://www.bibleref.com/Colossians/1/Colossians-1-22.html
Three reason why Jesus died a violent death:
First, Jesus died to present us as holy “set apart.” He sacrificed his life for me/you!
Second, Jesus died so we could be blameless. While we still sin, His sacrifice provides FORGIVENESS of our sins.
Third, Jesus died to make us right with God, something ONLY Jesus could provide – not in our works/efforts. Above reproach = no criticism can be made.
Have two additional journal pages where I sketched out my thinking. Will try to upload those.
What might we be saying while going THROUGH the “institution” of the death of Jesus’ physical body?
Who am I too…?
I’m not good enough.
I did/said too much.
I didn’t do/say enough.
If they only knew…
Once they find out…
So then, what lies might we be believing about God/Jesus/the ways of heaven:
They will only accept me if…
God only loves conditionally.
God needs me to do/say certain things for me to belong/to be accepted.
If I sin too much I won’t be accepted.
God doesn’t really know me and once He finds out, I will not be saved/accepted.
