Joy’s Notes:

Monday

1 Peter 2:14

“(For the Lord’s sake, submit to all human authority—whether the king as head of state….v2:13)

or the officials he has appointed.

For the king has sent them to punish those who do wrong and to honor those who do right.”

🙏Emperor Nero was TORTURING & KILLING Peter’s family & friends for their faith in Jesus — when Peter wrote this verse. (Peter written AFTER acts)

__________

  • David/ Saul relationship.

David had TWO opportunities to “kill Saul” but did not because he was Gods appointed king.

     👇

  1. 1 Samuel 24:1-7

“After Saul returned from fighting the Philistines, he was told that David had gone into the wilderness of En-gedi. So Saul chose 3,000 elite troops from all Israel and went to search for David and his men near the rocks of the wild goats.

At the place where the road passes some sheepfolds, Saul went into a cave to relieve himself. But as it happened, David and his men were hiding farther back in that very cave!

Now’s your opportunity!” David’s men whispered to him. “Today the Lord is telling you, ‘I will certainly put your enemy into your power, to do with as you wish.’” So David crept forward and cut off a piece of the hem of Saul’s robe.

But then David’s conscience began bothering him because he had cut Saul’s robe. He said to his men, “The Lord forbid that I should do this to my lord the king. I shouldn’t attack the Lord’s anointed one, for the Lord himself has chosen him.” So David restrained his men and did not let them kill Saul.

  1. 1 Sam 26:7-12

“So David and

Abishai (ah-bi-shy)went right into Saul’s camp and found him asleep, with his spear stuck in the ground beside his head. Abner and the soldiers were lying asleep around him. 8 “God has surely handed your enemy over to you this time!”

Abishai (ah-bi-shy) whispered to David. “Let me pin him to the ground with one thrust of the spear; I won’t need to strike twice!” 9 “No!” David said. “Don’t kill him. For who can remain innocent after attacking the LORD ’s anointed one? 10 Surely the LORD will strike Saul down someday, or he will die of old age or in battle. 11 The LORD forbid that I should kill the one he has anointed! But take his spear and that jug of water beside his head, and then let’s get out of here!” 12 So David took the spear and jug of water that were near Saul’s head. Then he and Abishai (ah-bi-shy)got away without anyone seeing them or even waking up, because the LORD had put Saul’s men into a deep sleep.”

  • David's refusal to attack Saul was NOT based on STRATEGY but on REVERENCEDavid has for God.

  • David knows his REBELLION towards Saul would REBELLION against God Himself.

David respected GODS ORDER more than the

1.  culture (&friends)

  1. his flesh’s desire!! (Whoa)

  • David had a such a DEEP REVERENCE for God— not Saul! But because of His deep reverence for God, he was respecting: 1. Gods ORDER, 2. Gods ANOINTING, 3. Gods AUTHORITY ….. Of choosing Saul to be king.

  • David is NOT revering Saul— but the divine position of Saul placed on him by Davids Living God!

Even Davids friends told him to “kill Saul!” “You have every right to do this!!”

Because of Davids deeep respect & reverence for Gods order — God BLESSED him mightily later in his life & became “more & more” powerful

    👇

“The Lord made David VICTORIOUS wherever he went!”

  • 2 Samuel 8:6 & 8:14

  • 1 chronicles 18:13

(Because of his REVERENCE for God— NOT man!)

Matt 5:21-22

“ you have heard that our ancestors were told, “you must not murder. If you commit murder, your subject to judgment. “But I say, if you are even angry with someone, your subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell!”

David chose not to “MURDER” Saul because of his reverence for GOD!!!!

Who am I  “murdering” IN MY HEART?

“ but for you who fear my name, the son of righteousness will rise with healing in his rays.”

-Malachi 4:2

     👇

HEALING is found in REVERENCE!!!

We lack REVERENCE today in our culture!

     👇

(Pride can’t breathe in atmosphere of reverence)

True REVERENCE proceeds (follows) tasting Gods love.

We can’t truly REVERE God until we KNOW His LOVE!

(Reverence without knowing Gods love= LEGALISM)

So many Christian’s don’t know the undeserving love of the Living God— & therefore do not REVERE God!!!!

————

It’s another tactic of Satan!

       👇

  • We MUST know how DEEPLY we are loved! Our very life depends on it!!!!

👉 David had a divine-habit differentiating between satans tactics & humans .

👉 his brothers condescended him, belittled him & accused him JUST BEFORE he took down Goliath.

👉 if David believed their lies, Goliath would of never been defeated. David would of never become king (the line Jesus came from!)

  • David KNEW it was not flesh & blood — but powers & authorities & principalities of the dark world.

👉 David knew this with Saul too! Even though Saul threw spears at him, chased him, tried to murder him— David KNEW this was another Goliath moment!

👉 if he got tripped up by a “man” he knew the God-designed assignment on the other side, wouldn’t be fulfilled!

If your path is difficult, it's because your purpose is bigger than you thought."

👉 the enemy knows he can’t DESTROY you, so he seeks to DISCOURAGE you!

👉 if you’re feeling DISCOURAGED— you’re under spiritual attack!

2 cor 4:8-9

(See top notes in new bible)

  • PRESSED- not crushed

  • PERPLEXED-not in despair

  • PERSECUTED-not abandoned

  • PULLED DOWN- not destroyed

Satan tries to:

   👇

Press me

Perplex me

Persecute me

Pull me down

With God Im NOT:

   👇

Crushed

In despair

Abandoned

destroyed

PETER STORY:

   👇

Matt 17:24-

Jesus doesn’t agree with citizens paying temple taxes.

BUT Jesus tells PETER to pay anyways in order to not offend.

👉 Peter is told to throw out line & FIRST fish will have coin for taxes.

    👇

MIRACLES are found in the “ordinary” AFTER Peter submitted to authority!

— not at the conference

— not at the christian Rock concert

— not in the church experience …

👉 but in his “everyday” life.

1 Cor 9:19

“Even though I am a free man with no master, I have become a slave to all people to bring many to Christ.”

  👇

Had Peter not submitted to authority (that he wasn’t in agreement with ) he would of MISSED the Miracle in his “every day life” (which brings people to Christ! We now have a testimony!!!!)
