1 Peter 3:6

Joy’s Notes:

1 Peter 3:6

“like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord.

You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.”

Sarah/Sarai =

SARAI= contentious, quarrelsome “princess”

SARAH= “a noble woman”

• my name story

⁃ God repeated a promise 5X in Genesis, that Abraham and Sarah will have a baby that would lead to the birth of a nation

Don’t let FACTS cancel out your FAITH

the PROMISE had a PROBLEM (Dr Tony Evans)

Sarah was passed childbirth age.

What do you feel your past the age to do? That maybe it’s too late for you?

SARAH IS LORD: ☹️

(Because of FEAR!)

👇

Sarah became Lord of her own life, and had her husband sleep with Hagar. Ishmael was born out of that. She did not believe in the promises that God had spoken over her and her husband.

story of Sarai (FEAR)

(Gen 15-18)

1. Abram slept with Hagar

2. Hagar treated Sarai w/ contempt

3. Hagar runs away- names God “the God who sees.”

4. Ismauel = “God hears”

Abram (86)=Ishmael

Abraham (100)

Sarah (90)

(Isaac)= “he laughs”

Gen 17:15-17

ABRAHAM LAUGHS:

⁃ God told Abraham he’d have a son with Sarah & “he LAUGHED to himself”

(Told to name son- ISSAC= “he laughs.”)

Genesis 18:13-14

SARAH LAUGHS

⁃ “Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, ‘Can an old woman like me have a baby?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

Promise came true &

• Sarah says “God brought me LAUGHTER” for all who hear about this will laugh WITH me”~Gen 21:6

LORD/KING

Jamie’s story:

• when Sarah finally surrendered and humbled herself and called her husband Lord and not herself Lord, her husband who was following God‘s heart, miracles happen!

To be called king— you must be sacrificial.

It’s not just a TITLE but TOWEL — the king of kings washed feet!!

Towel over EGO

The king lays down his life

The king puts others first

The king loves unconditionally (didn’t keep score)

The king loves & obeys His Father above everyone else!!!

Maybe ur having Braxton Hicks contractions preparing itself for a new birth within?

—Because it’s only in pain, can we give birth ~Gen 3:16

Sarah, in her old age, laughed with hostility & folly when she over heard an Angel tell her husband, Abraham, that she’d give birth to a son.

“Impossible,” she whispered to her self as she deliberately chuckled with the preposterousness of it all— a whisper coated in a thick blanket of self preservation so that her heart wouldn’t fully embrace new birth was even possible... after all these years.

I mean, didn’t God know this new birth was the desire of her heart for

N I N E straight decades?

A desire that caused her pillow to be permanently tear stained from midnight pleads with her Papa to provide new birth within, night after night after night after night.

Yep, Sarah gave up believing, trusting, hoping, preparing, watching, anticipating.

It’s just safer that way.

“Hasn’t God seen how old I am?” she whispered.

“Hasn’t God seen my past?” we whisper.

“Hasn’t God seen my addiction?”

“Hasn’t God seen my hopeless marriage?”

“Hasn’t God seen my thought patterns?”

“Hasn’t God seen my inadequacies?”

“Hasn’t God seen my child’s struggle?”

“Hasn’t God seen my beyond-repair-heart?”

“Hasn’t God seen my messup, hiccup, dna makeup?”

But God stooped down, leaned in close & asked.. “Is there anything too hard for Me?”

~Gen 18:13
