Why Genesis?

SAVE= “To save, preserve, recover, restore
Refresh=“To give new strength or energy to; reinvigorate.
Heb 4:12-13
“For the word of God is ALIVE and powerful.
It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword,
cutting between soul and spirit,
between joint and marrow.
It EXPOSES our innermost thoughts and desires.
NOTHING in all creation is HIDDEN from God.
Everything is naked and EXPOSED before his eyes,
and he is the one to whom we are accountable.” (No one else!)
since the word is ALIVE & Living: (& so are we)= it produces new life!

As we journey through Genesis, continually ask yourself these two questions:
WHO are you God ?
WHAT are you like God?
We WONT know our identity— until we first know our IDENTIFIER.

👉Read it to learn more about your Creator

GENESIS teaches us about Gods CHARACTER more then any other book!

In GENESIS we learn:
Gen 1= we learn God is a God of light in the darkness
Gen 2&3= we learn God is a God who cloths our shame.
Gen 4= we learn God is a God of second chances
Gen 5-9 = we learn God is a God of restoration
Genesis 13= we learn God is a God of reconciliation
Gen 14 & 15 = we learn God is a God who hears our prayers
Gen 16= we learn God is a God who sees
Gen 17= we learn God is a God who offers me a new name!
Gen 18= we learn God is a God who brings us angels
Gen 19 = we learn God is a God who rescues us from evil
Gen 20 = we learn God is a God who offers us Living Water
Gen 22= we learn God is a God of mercy
Gen 24= we learn God is a God who makes 2 become one in marriage union
Gen 25= we learn God is a God of miracles
Gen 26 = we learn God is a God of blessings
Gen 28 = we learn God is a God who shows up in our dreams!
Gen 29= we learn God is a God who makes the unloved His beloved
Gen 30= we learn God is a God who gives wisdom!
Gen 32= we learn God is a God who allows us to wrestle things out with Him!
Gen 33 = we learn God is a God who reveals His grace through people.
Gen 37= we learn God is a God who reveals our future calling
Gen 39-50 = we learn God is a God who turns what the enemy intended for evil, into good!

Genesis means genealogy
— we look into our own genealogy to understand our wiring, dna, biological & physiological traits
Doctors want to know your genealogical (gynie-o-logical) history!!
GENEOLOGY is important!

Moses who felt: inadequate insufficient, unqualified, insecure, incapable
Moses WROTE Genesis in wilderness during Israel’s wandering!!

Moses WROTE Genesis while seeing that EGYPT was still in the Israelites!!
(It took 1 day for Israelites to get out of Egypt— but took 40 yrs to get Egypt of of Israelites!)
Israelites became accustomed to an “IDOLATRY” worldview while in Egypt for 300+ yrs. 👉(just like today)👈
God told Moses He is Yahweh (I AM) the one true God!
👉YHWH (Ex. 3) is the FILTER & lens of Genesis

The entire THEME of Genesis IS that God is LIGHT & that His entire objective is to REMOVE DARKNESS!!!

GOD begins with BEING the LIGHT. (Genesis)

Moses - face was LIGHT (Ex 34:29) “ Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets in his hand, he was not aware that his face was radiant/glowing/shining/ because he had spoken with the Lord!”

2nd GARDEN Jesus in gethsemane —brings us back to garden to say DARKNESS CANNOT EXTINGUISH HIS LIGHT!!! (Through the oil pressing)

JESUS is in an olive oil pressing
It’s the 3rd stage of pressing used for oil of light!
3 prayers- 3 pressings = LIGHT (& Jesus raised in 3 days)

Pressing = keeps my lamp burning!!!

“ command the people of Israel to bring pure OIL of pressed olives for the LIGHT
to keep the lamps burning continually.
This is a permanent law for the people of Israel and it must be observed from generation of generation.” W O W ! !

☀️ 2 cor 4:6-10
“For God, who said, “Let there be LIGHT in the darkness,” has made this LIGHT shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.
We now have this LIGHT shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.
This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.
We are PRESSED on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.
10 Through suffering (through PRESSING) our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus (LIGHT) may also be seen in our bodies.”
