May 12, Colossians 1:13 Bible Study Notes
Welcome!
This blog is used to share some of our notes from each day’s journaling while we were in Bible study with The Holy Spirit. At the bottom of each blog page, you’ll see which Bible we used and additional resources that may have informed our thinking and learning. We are curious and humble #Biblenerds. Each day we GET TO use the Word of God to learn more about His never-changing character, how much Jesus loves us and how The Holy Spirit guides us through a heart transformation one verse at a time. The Bible reads us just as much as we read It.
We hope these perfectly imperfect notes help you as you join us weekday mornings 8:00 - 9:00 EST via Facebook & Youtube. And, of course, we welcome you whenever and wherever you get a chance to learn along with us!
In His Love,

Joy Notes on Col 1:13:

God:

Tara Notes on Col 1:13:
May 12, Colossians 1:13 notes from Journal:
Colossians 1:13, NLT:
"For he has rescued (delivered) us from the kingdom (domain, dominion, kingdom) of darkness and
transferred (translated) us into the Kingdom of his dear Son,"
Domain – area or territory owned or controlled by a ruler or government. “Belonging to a Lord.”
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. Jesus came to give life in abundance.
Darkness vs Light
It’s a battle of the mind.
Some scripture that helps me with this battle. That will allow me to see that God is rescuing ME. I want to set my mind on things above (His wisdom) and not facts or my own reasoning. I want to be able to translate what’s happening in this life with the lens of heaven NOT through the lens of hell or this world or my mind/will/emotions OR other people’s opinions.
Translated: the process of moving from one place to another.
Rerouting (like how our phones reroute us when needed.)
Means of transportation – I want the Holy Spirit to be my source of transportation NOT a demonic spirit.
Matthew 6:13 and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
God WILL deliver us! It’s about God’s character NOT ours!
It’s not about our sin or our circumstance. It’s always about God’s good and perfect plan. ALWAYS!
>
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Do I really believe this? When don’t I? Is it b/c of my SIN or b/c of my circumstance?
>
Psalm 34 I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
>
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
>
2 Corinthians 10:5-6 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6 And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.
>
Eph 4:23 Instead, let the spirit/Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.
I/we need to take responsibility for our current mindset. Our mind (thinking & emotions) is a battleground.
When we are clothed in lies, fear, guilt, shame which gives us a false identity (typically based on our SIN or our CIRCUMSTANCES) God rescues us from the darkness and transfers us by way of TRUTH (typically the opposite of what we are thinking/lies we are believing). Then we are given a new thought, new name ànew identity.
Our goal is to be more Christ-like and less Tara-like.
