1 Peter 2:6
Joy’s Notes:
1 Peter 2:6
“As the Scriptures say, “I am placing a cornerstone in Jerusalem, chosen for great honor, and anyone who TRUSTS in him will never be put to SHAME.”
(From Isaiah 28:16)
———-
The CORNERSTONE determines the position of the entire structure!
If the cornerstone is crooked, faulty, fragile, flimsy — the entire building will be as well
Trust in cornerstone (Jesus) =
no shame
Trust in idols =
Shame
(Isaiah 42:17
“ But those who trust in idols, who say, “you are gods“ will be turned away in shame!”
The first soul emotion described in the Bible was in paradise (Garden of Eden)= SHAME
👇
Gen 2:25
Adam and his wife were both naked, and they had NO shame.
SHAME was mentioned before fear, guilt, bitterness, unbelief….
There was NO shame in Gods perfect Garden!
• We weren’t designed to know shame
Guilt- sorry, I made mistake
Shame- sorry, I AM a mistake
Shame-- "you're not good enough!"
"Who do u think you are"
👉 Scarlet letter
• The enemy comes to steal kill and destroy. And shame is his vehicle to do it
Shame feels like a filthy film over the soul- left as a remnant of either unprocessed sin &/or others sin done against you!
Shame leaves you feeling dirty
Shames byproduct is to HIDE (Adam & eve)
Shames oxygen is secrecy.
Without it, it suffocates!
Shame removes life-giving ingredient of Gods LOVE & identity
Shame is the signature of Satan
DIAGNOSTIC TIME:
How to recognize SHAME:
1. Fear of exposure & intimacy (Choose to be transparent and not vulnerable. Transparency was what I have gone through, vulnerabilities what I am going through)
2. I never feel like I do enough, am enough…
3. I’m Driven by performance & perfectionism “working/trying” language
4. Im devestated by criticism (it disables you- not just bothers you)
5. Im over critical of myself & others
6. I have Extremes of bitterness & rage— to pleasing others in the same day!
7. I’m Primarily motivated (controlled) by what others think.
8. I’m Motivated by fear: fear of failure, fear of rejection
9. I often will Under-perform to avoid risk
10. I have Self hate, self deprivation, self loathing - often cutting myself down to others & myself!
11. I Measure my worth (& others) by how well I perform
12. Shame causes me to be easily offended - Someone free of shame is more concerned when someone has offended God then themselves.
Shame is a LIE:
Psalm 34:5
• “Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
• Shame seeks to eradicate your birth right identity!!!
magnolia sign- “ the world needs who u were meant to be.”
Satan speaks FACTS

TRUTH: this Goliath is a target too big to miss!
FACT: I don’t have the skill set to accomplish this
TRUTH: you can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
FACT: this’ll take a miracle to heal this marriage, break this habit, cast these cares…
TRUTH: I’m a miracle-working, chain-breaking, prison door-opening, obstacle-smashing God!
FACT: I don’t have the ability
TRUTH: I don’t need your ability, just your availability
1 John 3:20
“Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings...”
DID YOU KNOW….
👇
• It takes only 3 seconds for mind to remember a memory of Shame, but it takes 60-90 seconds for mind to remember l a memory of joy.
—-> even when I don’t “feel” holy & blameless

THE ANTIDOTE:
The remedy for shame?
THE HYSSOP BRANCH:
PASS- OVER
(The final plague used to let Gods people go into freedom )
EXODUS 12
• “select male lamb without defect “
• Paint lamb’s blood on door posts w/ hyssop branch so ANGEL OF DEATH would PASSOVER that house!
HYSSOP - symbolically
to cleanse the soul
Psalm 51:7
Cleanse me with HYSSOP, & I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
NT: Jesus is our lamb!
Passover meal had 3 elements:
1. Bread
2. Wine
3. Lamb
👇
-the last supper (the Passover meal) didn’t have the lamb because Jesus was the Lamb!
👇
John the Baptist called Jesus the “Lamb of God” (John 1:29)
John 19:28-30
After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, to fulfill the Scripture, *said, “I am thirsty.” A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth. Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.
Jesus was crucified the day before Passover— 👉He was the perfect lamb that had the hyssop branch brought up to his face, smearing the blood right before He said “it is finished.”
Jesus not only died for our sins— but for our SHAME!
• Jesus crucifixion was a direct resemblance of the original Passover!
—> His death enabled death to PASSOVER you & give you eternal life
Hebrews 10:19-22 “
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly GO INTO heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.
By his death,Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain INTO the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right INTO the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.”🙌🙌🙌

4 P’s we receive When HE BRINGS ME INTO & thru His doorway & out of SHAME:
1. Position (I’m His daughter, He loves me, He delights in me.)
2. Purpose (“to allow God to use me in anyway thats most purposeful in order to expand His kingdom & extend the knowledge of His love.”)
3. Purity (Holy & blameless in His sight; w/out a single fault —BECAUSE of His blood! )
4. Passion (passion for Jesus ignited!)

LYRICS:
“Mirror, mirror
Mirror on the wall
Telling those lies, pointing out your flaws, that isn't who you are
It might be hard to hear
But let me tell you dear
If you could see what I can see
I know you would believe that isn't who you are
There's more to who you are
So when it's late
You're wide awake
Too much to take
Don't you dare forget that in the pain
You can be brave, and safe
I see you dressed in white
Every wrong made right
I see a rose in bloom
At the sight of you (oh, so priceless!)
Irreplaceable, unmistakeable, incomparable, darling it's beautiful!
I see it all in you (oh, so priceless!)
No matter what you've heard
This is what you're worth
More than all the money or the diamonds and pearls
Oh, this is who you are
Sisters, we can start again
Give honor to the end, love
We can start again
Brothers, we can start again
Give honor to the end, yeah
We can start again
I see you dressed in white
Every wrong made right
I see a rose in bloom
At the sight of you (oh, so priceless!)
Irreplaceable, unmistakeable, incomparable, darling it's beautiful!
I see it all in you
Oh, so priceless!”
