1 Peter 1:1

“This letter is from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to God’s chosen people who are living as foreigners in the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia (cap-a-docia) Asia, and Bithynia (bith-in-ia)” (Christians scattered throughout the northern areas of Asia Minor— now present day Turkey)

This letter is from

PETER:

• NAME!!!!

• WHO(Peter) BEFORE WHAT (an apostle)

• Peter was once Simon. But Jesus renamed him Peter— “the rock!

Before Jesus told Peter his IDENTITY— Peter had to tell Jesus His identity (Matt 16)

• we CANNOT know our identity (name) without FIRST knowing Jesus’ identity 🤯

• Love & identity go hand in hand (they are married). They are a "package deal:)"

👉 “God calls me by NAME (& equips me for battle) before I even knew Him!!! -Is 45:4-5

👉”The Lord called me BEFORE my birth; from within the womb He called me by NAME!”

- Is 49:1

• Our NAME (identity) can’t be earned — it’s an unconditional love given before we even knew Him!!!!

• Names were given for an identity not yet walked in !

(Gideon— man of valor)

• Eve— “mother of life” (given to her AFTER she ate the fruit!)

• Abraham/Abram= Abraham means “father of many”. (He hadn’t yet had Isaac!!)

Sarah/Sarai =

SARAI= contentious, quarrelsome “princess”

SARAH= “a noble woman”

“I have called you BY NAME; you are mine!”

-Isaiah 43:1

God spoke my name & said this: (before I walked into this truth)

Isaiah 42:6-9

“I, the LORD, have called you to demonstrate my righteousness. I will take you by the hand and guard you, and I will give you to my people, (joy) as a symbol of my covenant with them. And you will be a light to guide the nations. You will open the eyes of the blind. You will free the captives from prison, releasing those who sit in dark dungeons. “I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols.

Everything I prophesied has come true, and now I will prophesy again. I will tell you the future before it happens.”

Jeremiah 33:3

Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.

Jer 29:11
