1 Peter 3:15
Joy’s Notes:
Tuesday
1 Peter 3:15
Instead (of fearing people) you must worship Christ as Lord of your life.
And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready/prepared to explain it.
Christina Tipton: “live ready/make ready”
• psalm 130:6
“My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning—more than watchmen wait for the morning.
WATCHMEN: guards responsible for protecting them from military attack
—> 1. keep watch
—> 2. warn people
The Hebrew word translated “watchman” means “one who looks out,” OR “one who keeps watch.”
“I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me” (Ezekiel 33:7; also Hosea 9:8).
(Luke 12:35–40)
“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for HIM. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress Himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him”
KEEP LAMP BURNING:
"tend the fire" to keep the flame burning.

We’re PREPARED to teach each day… but are we just as PREPARED to RECEIVE??
the quality of the soil is just as important (IF not more) as the quality of the seed!
Parable of Farmer scattering seed:
(Matthew 13)
1. Seed scattered on a foot path. Birds came and ate it.
REPRESENTS: those who hear the message but don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts
2. Seed fell on shallow soil. Sprouted quickly but didn’t have deep roots and died.
REPRESENTS: Those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or persecuted for believing God’s word.
3. Seed fell among thorns. They were choked out.
REPRESENTS: Those who hear gods word but I’ll to quickly the messages crowded out by the worries of this life and the lore of wealth. So no fruit is produced.
4. Seed fell on fertile soil. produced a crop that was 30, 60, and even 100 x as much as had been planted!
REPRESENTS: Those who hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of 30, 60, or even 100 times as much as had been planted
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
