1 Peter 3:14

Joy’s Notes:

1 Peter 3:14

“But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not FEAR their threats; do not be frightened.”

FEAR of people

(Approval addiction)

👉Peter fell because He believed a lie Jesus had ABANDONED him!

Abandonment = fear

Withness = security

👉Peter picked up an IDOL of approval-addiction”

👇

man’s approval became greater then Gods.

👇

Idolatry is the doorway to FEAR.

But Peter walked on water - kept eyes on Jesus

👇

Wind & waves (peoples opinion, thoughts, wants, etc)

• IDOLS LIE!! They say they’ll: save you, complete you, love you— but they deplete you!

Isaiah 44:20

“The poor, deluded fool feeds on ashes. He trusts an idol that can’t help him at all. Yet he cannot bring himself to ask, “Is this idol that I’m holding in my (RIGHT) hand a lie?”

Let’s BREAK UP w/ approval- addiction in our life!

Prov 29:25

“Fearing people is a dangerous (snare)trap, but trusting the LORD means safety.”

Snare— a trap for a bird

We were made to SOAR!! (Isiah 41 verse: “Isaiah 40:31

31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will SOAR on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

~Ezekiel 13:20-23

I will tear my children away from your arms, setting my people free like birds set free from a cage.. & save my people from your grasp. They will no longer be your victim. You have discouraged the righteous with your lies, but I didn't want them to be sad.... I will RESCUE my people from your grasp. Then you will know that I AM the Lord."

SELF EVALUATION:

• Do you often need something from others?

• Do you crave approval, validation from others?

• Are you ever afraid you might be exposed as an imposter?

• Are you overly concerned of how you look, how much you weigh, etc your outward appearance ?

• Do you think about your self worth/ self esteem a lot?

• Do You often feel painfully unappreciated?

• Do you make excuses for bad behavior?

• Do you shift the Blame because U can’t handle the thought of failing in front of people?

• Do you show favoritism to certain people because you crave their approval ?

• Do you say yes to everyone because saying no you might lose their approval?

• Do you get easily embarrassed for doing human blips?

👉IT ROBS YOU OF GOD-CONFIDENCE

Jer 17:5-9

“This is what the LORD says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the LORD.

• They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land.

• V.7 But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.”

FEAR OF MAN:

I Put someone in the place of God in my life.

• Unlimited potential when I stop living for man’s approval!!!

————

LOVING OTHERS:

When I fear you less…

I can love you more!

👇

I can’t love you AUTHENTICALLY when I desire your approval!

👇

Gal 1:10

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

We all have a LONGING FOR BELONGING—

👇

Comprise convictions

👇

all in order to “belong”

Isaiah 49:14

“The lord has forgotten us.” NEVER!!….i would NOT forget you. See— I have written your NAME on the palms of my hands!!!

👉 if I don’t know my NAME, I won’t recognize it written on the palm of Gods hands!

————————

Plumb line of measuring my own heart:

👇

“A person with a changed heart (postured to see God with him)seeks praise from God, not from people!” (OUCH)

~Romans 2:29

+++Boat story of

love language: no longer need validation; instead, affirmation

(“Words of affirmation”)

the ROOT of approval-addiction=

1. a LIE about God🥲(not being who He says He is!)

2. A LIE about ME🥲. ( not being who God says I am)

“A person must meet fear to know courage!” (Cowboy values)

Courage=

1. Believing what God told you.

2. Responding in obedience

“Some trust in horses, others in chariots- BUT I trust in the name of the Lord MY God!!!”
