Colossians 3:22
Joy’s Notes:
Wednesday
Col 3:22
“Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything you do.
1. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you.
2. Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord.”
——————-
• The disease to please
People pleasing = REVERES MAN
Pleasing people =
REVERES GOD
Gal 1:10
“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to people please? If I were still trying to people please, I would not be a servant of Christ.” -Paul

DIAGNOSIS TIME:
Signs I’m a people pleaser:
(We are not a Problem to be solved!!)
but getting a diagnoses peels scales off eyes & allows God in:
1. I pretend to agree with everyone. (Even when it goes against what God had told me- personal convictions, integrity, character, morals, my faith )
2. I feel responsible for how other people feel. (“Im responsible for your feelings!”) I don’t have that kind of power!— no one can make me feel a certain way. It’s up to each individual to be in charge of their own emotions.
3. I apologize often for being me:( Because I don’t feel I’m meeting the expectation you’ve placed on me— even though they may not have one for me!)
4. I feel burdened by the things I have to do. (Schedule filled with things I think other people want me to do)
5. I can’t say no.
(“ learn to say no to the good, so you can say yes to the best.” -John Maxwell)
6. I feel uncomfortable Discombobulated and shaken if someone is angry at me.
7. I act like the people around me. (I become a Chameleon- its exhausting & depleting. & I don’t know who I am anymore)
8. I need praise to feel good. (My self-worth rests entirely on what others think about me) “Never let compliments go to my head, or their criticisms will get to my heart”
9. I go to great lengths to avoid conflict. (Peace-Keeper)
10. I don’t admit when my feelings are hurt— (Superficial relationships- no vulnerability or intimacy allowed in)

Col 3:22 part B
“Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord.”
REVERENCE:
Reverence precedes pleasing people (not people pleasing)
Recognition👉Repentance👉Reverence👉
Revival🙌
• Without RECOGNITION there is no repentance!
• Without repentance there is no reverence.
• Without reverence
there is no revival.
Heb 4:12
“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”
• N O T H I N G else has the power or capability to expose our innermost thoughts & desires— to provide the vision to ‘RECOGNIZE!”
• It’s the stuffed, suppressed inner thoughts & deeply repressed desires that dictate our reality & alter our internal narrative — & half the time, we don’t even know it !
• satan will do all he can to keep this transformational 66-book-love-letter out of your hand & on that dusty ol’ shelf where he likes it!
• The Word is a Sword alright— a sword to not only defend against those crafty, dark, perverted, twisted, down right evil tactics of your enemy— but a sword to pluck out every single morsel of darkness within the heart that’s preventing you from having the spiritual eyes to RECOGNIZE what’s happening in your very own soul!
