Colossians 3:24

Joy’s Notes:

Col 3:24

“REMEMBER that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.”

————————-

REMEMBER-

• God wants us to REMEMBER what He’s done for us in the past to get us through the trials of today!

Remember at ALL times:

1. Who He is

(His unchanging character)

2. Who you are

(Masterpiece, loved, valued, seen, highly favored)

3. Whose you are (Daughter & heir of the King)

Psalm 63:6

“On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.

👉 “permission to ask God my questions, without questioning God”

—- to have the FREEDOM to speak out disappointment & griefs

(I don’t get it

(I don’t understand...)

BUT EVEN IF.....

REMEMBRANCE:

Shittim - Jordan river- Gilgal (promise land)

Priests held Ark of the Covenant while they walked through fear on dry ground! REMINDING them of Gods goodness!

Ark of Cov=

•Aaron’s rod (miraculous power)

•Manna

•10 commandments

• satan desires for us to have spiritual amnesia!

Remembrance MUST BE an on purpose spiritual discipline of our every day life!

Luke 22:19 (communion) do this in REMEMBRANCE of me!

The Jewish people had observed PASSOVER meal EVERY year in order to remember God’s fulfillment of his promise.

PASSOVER = remembered freedom from physical slavery

1st COMMUNION=

Reminder we’re from spiritual slavery.

Deuteronomy 4:7

Deuteronomy 8:1

Deut 8:11

Deut 6:12

We are forgetful. And when we forget, we begin to complain.

• Forgetting = complaining

• Remembering = Praising

• anyone can be a COMPLAINER— but it takes fierce boldness to be a PRAISER!

👉remembering precedes praise

• Heb 13:15 “Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.”

————-

7 superpowers of what praise can do:

“crosswalk”

1.  Praise decreases self-absorption

• Habakkuk -“even though”

• 3:17-19 “Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines. Even though the olive crap fails, and the fields like empty in Barron. Even though the flex day in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty— YET I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the in my God! The sovereign Lord is my strength! He makes me a sure footed as a deer able to tread upon the Heights.”

2.  Praise brings me to posture of humility

• Humility is about proximity.

• Only in humility can I find rest —

“The arrogant are NEVER at rest.”Habakkuk 2:5

3. Praise makes the enemy flee. (Jehoshaphat 2 chronicles 20:21) “praise the lord for His mercy endures forever!” •JUDAH (means PRAISE !!!!!

4. Praise leaves no room for complaining and negativity.

• read- Psalm 13♥️

5. Praise gives me SIGHT to SEE God’s blessings over my life.  (Satan wants to blind me from knowing that: “Christ has blessed me with EVERY spiritual resource/blessings in heavenly places in Christ:" Eph. 1:3

6. Praise invites in His presence

In His presence, there is fullness of joy.”  Psa. 16:11

"Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands." Psa. 63:3-4)

⁃ The comfort of God

7. Praise invites in miracles (Acts 16:25-26)

• Paul & Silas flogged

• Stripped naked & Beaten w/ rods

• Inner cell.

• Shackles on feet.

• Midnight singing praise.

• Earthquake opened up ALL the prison doors 🙌

Praising God in the midnight hour!
