1 Peter 2:21

Joy’s Notes:

1 Peter 2:21

“For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.”

—————

Rabbis walked as they taught & students were known to “keep in step” with teacher to learn & receive wisdom from the visual surroundings of their teachings

  • Students walked so close to their rabbis you could see the dust of their rabbis dirt on their robes.

Luke 7:36 (a year before Jesus’ crucifixion)

    👇

an “immoral woman w/ alibaster jar— follows Jesus steps until she finds his feet to wash with tears .

It’s usually a persons head that’s anointed- but she anointed His feet! (See v7:46)

Is 52:7

“How beautiful on the mountains are the THE FEET of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!”

(Knowing those feet were leading to His death & her forgiveness)

        👇

  • she knelt behind his FEET

  • She wept on his FEET

  • She wiped her tears off His FEET with her hair. (Hair was honor)

  • She repeatedly kissed His FEET

  • She poured perfume on His FEET. (She broke the alabaster jar as a SIGN she’s breaking up with who she once was!)

TEAR JAR:

Psalm 56:8 David prays to God, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”

Luke 7:41-48

“Then Jesus told him this story: “A man loaned money to two people—500 pieces of silver to one and 50 pieces to the other.

But neither of them could repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts.

Who do you suppose loved him more after that?”

Simon answered, “I suppose the one for whom he canceled the larger debt.”

“That’s right,” Jesus said.

Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon,

“Look at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn’t offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You didn’t greet me with a kiss, but from the time I first came in, she has not stopped kissing my feet. You neglected the courtesy of olive oil to anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet with rare perfume. (JESUS HONORS HER!)

“I tell you, her sins (and they are many) have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”

  • My love towards God is based on how much I’ve allowed Him to forgive me!

If I’m having difficulty receiving /experiencing Gods love, it’s most likely because I’m not giving God the basement of my soul “stuff” (secret pains) & allowing Jesus to heal & forgive me!!!

  • Satan wants to EMPOWER THE DILLUSION that there’s nothing to “Unstuff”

  • Unstuffing leads to suffering! 👇

  • Which leads to HEALING!

Are you willing to SUFFER for your next generation!!????

(Tda verse: “just as Christ suffered for you)

If not— the nxt generation become our SYMPTOM BEARER 🥲(Dr. Kurt Thompson)

How The immoral woman SUFFERED: (thinking of her next generation?)

  1. she SUFFERED thru the humiliation of walking past the Pharisees

  2. she SUFFERED through leaving her past behind (comforts, identity’s, etc)

Satan knows the more you stuff & refuse to “suffer”- the less you’ll be able to love God with all your heart, mind & soul!

(& your heart will always be looking for something /someone else to love!!)

When I’ve been forgiven— a natural response to His forgiveness is to LOVE God with

A L L L L L L of me!!!!!!

👉And then & ONLY then will I be able to love God with all my heart, mind & soul!

“ I hope I’m transparent enough about my struggles with sin that the Pharisee will question my salvation and the broken will call me a friend”
